AI-supported driver training using telematics, video, transcripts and structured journey review to support competency development.
Overview
FleetSkillAI extended the AIPTO and FAIDA sequence into operational driver-training use. The project examined how telematics events, recorded video, transcripts and AI-supported summaries could be organised for instructor review before and after a journey. The system was designed to support structured discussion and competency development while retaining the instructor as the decision-maker.
Objective
To test whether AI-supported organisation of telematics and video evidence can improve the structure and usefulness of instructor-led driver review and competency development.
Work undertaken
Work covered user needs, data and system requirements, hardware and data capture, event and video integration, data fusion, user-interface development, operational deployment, instructor review and exploitation planning. The project did not seek to replace instructors or automate disciplinary decisions.
Outputs and findings
Outputs included requirements and architecture records, an operational deployment, user-interface outputs, data-fusion work, training workflow evidence, final project review and an exploitation plan. The project was recorded as complete for its March 2026 final review, including the final operational deployment with a training provider.
Contribution to Hodos Media
FleetSkillAI is the latest completed project in the TaaSchen sequence. It carries earlier feasibility and proof-of-concept work into an operational training setting and contributes reusable interface, integration and workflow assets.
